Rabbi Dov Laimon has been a Sofer Sta”m and a teacher of Jewish thought for over 30 years.
Dov teaches regularly at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, and at the Yakar Center for Jewish Tradition and Creativity. The teaching is always an admixture of learning the skill of scribal writing with learning from the traditional Jewish sources about the nature of the Hebrew letters. He also teaches tutorials and public classes presenting the Jewish spiritual tradition from classical and more modern sources.
Dov is known for his open approach, instructing any interested student; men, women, religious\non religious. He regularly teaches rabbinical students visiting Israel for the year’s study, including students from the Jewish Theological Seminary, Hebrew Union College, Hebrew College and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.
Dov works as a Sofer, primarily writing Tefilin, Mezuzot and Megilot. He also produces Ketubot and hand-written facsimiles of classical kabbalistic images and original calligraphic artwork.
Dov lives in Jerusalem and is available to meet students for one time sessions and entire courses of study.
